How to make your Microsoft account passwordless?
And yes, we are talking about your personal Microsoft accounts. A month ago Microsoft announced that you can finally remove your password requirement from your email. You only need the authenticator to login to your account. Of course, you need to connect the authenticator to your account to get this thing working. But anyway, let’s get into it.
First you need to go to your Microsoft account page.
Here you can do lots of things. You can buy your own Microsoft 365 Family package, find your devices etc. But we are concentrating on the Security section.
Click on the Security dashboard.
Here you can find your Sign-in activity, check your Windows security and the Advanced security options, which you have to click on next.
On this page you can find the “Passwordless account OFF” section. It’s a<t the bottom of the page, next to a Two-step verification. Let’s click it on.
Now you need your phone or tablet, (wherever you keep your authenticator) and you do as the instructions tell you. And they tell you to approve this request.
Once you have clicked on the approve, this pop-up will appear and you no longer need the password for your account, only the authenticator.
You will also eceive an email from Microsoft informing you your Password was removed. When do we get this to all of our accounts? Soon, hopefully. But that’s it, now you no longer need a password on your account. See you in next blog post. o/
